Urban mobility is one of the essential factors for preserving and improving the quality of life in urban centres. The City and Region of Locarno offer a wide range of urban transport options, including the Bikesharing project promoted by the City of Locarno, which now covers the entire Locarno area and is worthy of mention. The city can be reached by various means of transport and there is also a Cantonal airport (for small private aircraft) on the outskirts of the urban area.

Essential projects for mobility are currently being implemented, such as a new road plan, new rail connections with a new train station and a fast connection for access to the city. The first project will allow the use of public transport in intermodal mode, while the second will connect the Locarno conurbation to the national and international motorway network. These measures will also ensure a better connection to the city's industrial area.
